The Illinois State Police Offender Registration course has been developed to educate law enforcement officers of the legal requirements for the registration, monitoring, and restrictions required for sexual offenders in the community.
Attendees will:
• Discuss the Illinois Compiled Statutes and the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act.
• Identify procedures for law enforcement agencies regarding the Sex Offender Registration (SOR).
• Understand Sex Offender Registration Act including the offender’s duties to register and report.
• Identify procedures for law enforcement agencies regarding the Murder and Violent Offender Against Youth (MOVAY) including the offender’s duties to register and report.
• Be able to retrieve offender information including convictions and criminal histories using LEADS.
• Review residency and loitering restrictions for child sex offenders.
• Discuss the implications on habitation, livelihood, and abiding within the parameters established by statute for sex offenders.

- Constitutional / Proper Use of LE Authority - 0.5 hours
- Human Rights - 0.5 hours
- Legal Updates - 2 hours
- Procedural Justice - 1 hours
