Course Description: This course is structured to give Law Enforcement Officers the knowledge and skills necessary to operate in the maritime environment to include enforcement, search, rescue, and recovery. This course consists of both classroom and scenario-based training on the water.
Topics Discussed: The objective of this course is to give Law Enforcement Officers the knowledge and skills necessary to enforce all maritime state laws as well as local and county ordinances and to promote safe boating to include: responding to calls for assistance in the maritime environment, responding to boating accidents, search/rescue/recovery operations and sonar operations for death investigations/body recovery.
What to bring: Students should bring any department issued water rescue equipment available, i.e., PFD, throw bags, rescue lines, rescue watercraft etc. If you do not have any equipment, we will provide everything you need for the water portion of the training.
Funded in Partnership with the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board This training covers the following mandates:
- Constitutional / Proper Use of LE Authority - 2.00 hours
- Emergency Medical Response - 4.00 (2.0 Hours Scenario-Based) hours
- Officer Safety Techniques - 6.00 (6.0 Hours Scenario-Based) hours
- Lead Homicide Investigator - 24.0 (6.0 Hours Scenario-Based) hours
